Title: I took my mom on a sunrise mission

Location: Noordwijkerhout, Netherlands

Camera equipment: DJI Mavic Pro 2 with a ND filter

Story

“Every year the tulip fields are the first signs of Spring in the Netherlands. If you drive through particular farming areas, they can be seen everyone! Despite being from the Netherlands I only went to these areas and saw these tulips for the first time in 2019 and was completely blown away by their beauty.

This year, 2020, I wasn’t going to visit these fields because I was traveling the world with my partner and our cameras, however, just like everyone else our plans got cancelled and we returned home due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, meaning we had to go back to the Netherlands and start our 2 weeks quarantine at the beginning of April. As soon as the quarantine ended we were so happy to be able to get out into nature again and headed straight to the tulip fields closest to our home. We decided to take my mother with us and share with her our process as photographers.

We got up at 5am and drove to Noordwijkerhout to see the sun rise. We took the drone and our cameras out and started taking shots until we were happy with the result. My mother was pleased to model for us and the happiness she radiated is something I will never forget.

The tulips were getting cut by the farmer while we took the photos. Normally tulip season is a lot longer, but due to COVID-19 they were cutting them as soon as they were blooming. We were lucky to have been able to get these photos just in time before they were shortly cut after this photo.”
