Improve your photography skills with our top tips

We are excited to announce that the next Contest launched this Friday 06.12.19 will be #Friends2020, meaning it’s time to start preparing your best shots that reflect the strong bonds of friendship!

We’re determined to make this Contest even better than the last, so we’ve put together our best advice to assure that your photos meet Top 50 / Hero standard. Check them out and apply them to your shots this week in preparation for Friday! 👇

Capture authentic moments!

Avoid taking and submitting posed shots of friendship which tend to remove all magic, emotion and tenderness from an image. Instead your aim should be to capture authentic moments between real friends. To do this try to evoke natural moments which reflect the bond of the subjects in question and which feel comfortable to them. For example children being playful, elderly people sharing a hobby and adults conversing and laughing.

Make the most of the magic hours!

While the blue and golden hours can be used to make many genres of photography magical, on the theme of friendships they can help bring a warmth and charm to the photo which reflects the bond of your subjects. Get up early or be patient for the sunset to use these magical times of day to your advantage.

Vary your environment and subjects!

Remember that friendship comes in various shapes and sizes, often crossing both generations and species. Think outside the box and show us unique relationships between people and animals of all generations, species and cultures.
