Introducing Azim Khan Ronnie (aka @azimronnie), our #Work2019 Hero from Dhaka, Bangladesh, whose stunning photo has won him $1,000 + 100,000 ⭐️s!
“My name is Azim Khan Ronnie, I was born in Dhaka and brought up in Bogra, Bangladesh. I have been working for a a news channel as a senior Cameraman for over 14 years, it is here where I have gained a lot of my photographic knowledge. After 4 years of hard work and practise I am now also lucky enough to combine this job with being a freelance photographer. My aim as a photographer is to capture unique moments in life and give them significance by making them static in time. I love to travel and be in different places, meet new people, and enjoy the experience that photography offers, which is to capture Earth’s beautiful and awe-inspiring moments. I also loves to experiment with my photography style.”
“Photography is not my hobby it’s my passion”
“I always think big when it come to my photography and want to achieve the world’s most prestigious photography awards always representing my country. My goal is to take one of the world’s best photos in my life before death. One photo & one award can change your life!
My winning #Work2019 photo, Harvesting Red Chilies, was taken with my DJI Mavic 2 pro in Bogura, Bangladesh. Its depicts workers picking red chilies – traditionally a woman’s trade in Bangladesh. It is very difficult to work in these conditions for them because of hot weather and heavy smell from the chilies. More than 2,000 women work in almost 100 chili farms in Bogura in Bangladesh to supply local spice companies with chilies for use in their recipes. Chili peppers are a major part of the Bengali cuisine popular in Bangladesh and are used as part of a combination of spices for various meat dishes, including chicken and beef!
I found AGORA a while back on social media and have already been selected many times as part of the Top 50, that’s why I am so happy to finally have won a Contest and be an AGORA images’ Hero! As a travel photographer this prize money will help me explore my next tour destination – Europe! Thanks AGORA and thanks everybody.”
On behalf of the entire AGORA Team, congratulations to Azim Khan Ronnie for becoming the Hero! 👏🎉
