It’s the middle of June already which can only mean one thing… #Summer2019 is almost here! Launching this Friday 21.06.19, we can’t wait to see what Summer looks like in your corner of the world or on your travels!
Keep reading to meet last year’s Hero and this year’s guest judge to uncover his exclusive advice to improve your photography of this theme & your chances of becoming the Hero!
The world is full of Heroes, could you be one of them? 🏆
“My name is David and I’m from Spain. I’ve been lucky to be war photographer and reporter for 12 years, a career that has brought so much to my life. I have crossed many borders, met so many people, experienced so many cultures, which in turn has broadened my horizons more than I could ever have imagined. When I retired from this career, I felt the need to be back amongst the action, taking pictures every day, and I greatly missed the intensity and adrenaline of being in the middle of something important.
It was actually my wife who discovered and introduced me to AGORA. There were so many different Contests on so many varying subjects. I found and still find the AGORA Team so open minded and responsive to the Community’s images, that I quickly started feeling that I was taking pictures for something which mattered again, and everyday I go out with the goal to capture the best picture possible!
I was so happy when I found out that I had become the Hero of #Summer2018 and am so honoured to have been invited back this year as the guest judge and have a say in which image for me is the best in the world this year!”
“For me Summer can be a tricky season to capture, but by staying alert for unique moments and beautiful, bright colours you can find some really incredible scenes to capture. Take a look at my 3 top tips which I hope will help you to for taking great shots of the #Summer2019 Contest!
Oceans, seas, rivers and lakes are just the perfect spots to capture incredible moments during the summer. On their own or with interesting subjects these settings are sure to make beautiful photos that make the viewer want to transport themselves there.
Be careful with the light!
Always be aware of the stong summer light that often can be very bright, leave an undesired bokeh affect or overexposed parts on your images. Make sure you analyse where is the sun is to make the most of the light without ruining your photo!
Summer is the season when people let go, unleash themselves and want to enjoy every second of their life! Capture people enjoying themselves but also remember to enjoy yourself too! Make the most of summer and get out there and take as many pictures as possible, trying to improve on each and every one!”
