Fawad’s winning photo –Thinking Eyes

“Hi, my Name is Fawad Malik and I’m a Pakistan based photographer and videographer! I started photography back in 2013 and I specialise in dramatic portrait photography.

Relatively few weeks ago I heard about AGORA Images. I downloaded the app and saw so much inspiration! Now I’m a Hero & I’m over the moon.

When I started taking photograph as a hobby I shot everything, but human faces especially called my attention. When I developed this interest it converted into a passion & I started to take it seriously as a career. As time went on I learnt more about about dramatic portraits, which in contrast to a regular portrait shot also captures feelings from eyes, expressions of the subjects’ faces, wrinkles etc. Every face has own story! I edit all my shots on Adobe Photoshop CC with the Adobe camera Raw filter. Every face requires a different post processing but roughly takes between 25 to 30 minutes per portrait.

I travel a lot to find my subjects, generally in traditional cultural festivals. I always learn a lot from these experiences.”

The guest judge for this Contest has been photographer Paula Aranoa

We called upon Paula Aranoa (@paulaaranoa), a prominent black and white photographer from the AGORA Community, to lend the Community a hand with choosing the #Blac&White2019 Hero.

My name is Paula Aranoa, I’m 53 years old. I am Argentinian photographer and Mum of 4. I studied philosophy, and several other subjects related to design before starting my journey with photography after attending various workshops that fascinated me and led me to delve deeper and deeper into this art. I consider myself quite self-taught, especially when it comes to editing. The predominant style of my work is black and white as you can see in my AGORA profile and it has been an absolute pleasure to judge the best photos in the world and help choose a winner!

Guest Judge’s selection criteria: I had to give my number one spot to @fawadmalick’s portrait shot. Not only does it have a fantastic quality and a exceptional black and white edition, but man’s gaze completely transcends the image and almost lets us see his soul. His look speaks to me. Congratulations on this fantastic photo!

On behalf of the entire AGORA Team, congratulations to Fawad Malick for becoming the Hero! 👏🎉

There is a new Hero every week, so don’t forget to check out our previous winners such as the #Silhouettes2019 or the #Architecture2019 Hero.
